Nathan Simmons

Nathan Simmons is an employment attorney based in Houston, Texas, dedicated to protecting the rights of workers across the state. A lifelong Texan, Nathan was born and raised in Dallas and has spent much of the last decade living and working in Austin and Houston. His commitment to advocating for workers stems from a deep belief that every employee deserves fair treatment, dignity, and a voice in the workplace.
Nathan first worked with Kaplan Law Firm as a summer associate while attending law school and returned to the firm in 2026 as a full-time attorney after gaining valuable experience representing employees at another plaintiff-side employment law firm. His practice focuses on employment and labor law matters, including workplace discrimination, retaliation, disability rights, wage and hour disputes, and other violations of employee rights.
Nathan earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Honors and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015. Before pursuing a legal career, he worked as an engineer and later as a community organizer, helping form a hiring hall union and advocating for workers in disputes with management. Through this work, he gained firsthand experience with the challenges employees face and developed a passion for helping workers navigate complex workplace issues.
Nathan received his Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law in 2021. During law school, he served as a Pro Bono Scholar in the Supported Decision-Making Agreement Clinic and worked with organizations focused on workers' rights, immigration, accessibility, family law, and impact litigation. These experiences reinforced his commitment to using the law as a tool to create meaningful change for individuals and communities.
Since becoming licensed in 2022, Nathan has represented employees in matters involving Title VII discrimination, disability accommodations, age discrimination, wage disputes, labor law issues, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. He is conversational in Spanish and enjoys helping clients understand their rights while guiding them through difficult and often life-changing legal challenges.
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys movies, trivia, creative writing, and spending time with friends and family.
Jas Sethi

Jas joined Kaplan Law firm in late 2025 after starting his career as a corporate lawyer, working for Vinson & Elkins' shareholder activism team. Jas previously earned his bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Austin prior to graduating cum laude from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. As a college and law student, Jas competed in trial advocacy competitions starting at the age of 18 and today, remains involved with The University of Texas at Austin as a member of the advisory board to the Steve Hicks School of Social Work. Jas is a born and raised Texan, and is excited to work as a civil rights and employment attorney for our clients.
